a little bit about us:

Katherine Compitus, Owner
Katherine is a native of New York City. She grew up in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, where she was always surrounded by pets. She shared her childhood with 3 cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits and fish. She spent summers horseback riding in upstate NY. Katherine received an MSEd from Hunter College in 2003 and worked for several years as a New York City teacher. She went back to school in 2006 to study animal cognition and behavior as part of an advanced psychology degree. She recently enrolled in the MSW program at NYU, with a focus on Veterinary Social Work. She is also working towards an advanced certificate from Hunter College in Animal Behavior and Conservation. Katherine is a New York State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and has rehabilitated and released many wild birds. Before opening Wiggly Pups, Katherine worked at some of the best dog daycare/boarding facilities in New York City. She currently lives with her husband, 3 rescue dogs (Morgan, a Black Labrador, Angie, an Akita/Afghan Hound mix, and Jack, an Argentine Dogo), her Maine Coon Cat, Eros, and her adolescent pigeon, Ralph.
Paul Compitus, Owner
Paul was born and raised in Surrey, England. Although he did not have a pet of his own, he was always the babysitter of choice for his aunt's Jack Russell terrier. He also spent a lot of time at another aunt's home, where he grew up with her purebred American Staffordshire Terriers. Paul came to the United States in 1996 after living and working for 2 years in Japan. He was the first non-Japanese fashion designer to work for the fashion house Matsuda. After many years as a successful fashion designer (with Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Rocawear, Ecko Unlimited), Paul turned his attention towards designing pet beds and accessories. He currently lives with his wife, Katherine, and their family: Morgan (lab), Angie (Akita/Afghan mix), Eros the cat and Ralph the pigeon. Although he inherited most of their pet family when he was married, Paul is pleased to have recently adopted his very own dog - Jack, a 13 year old Dogo Argentino, who is the official mascot of Wiggly Pups.
Wiggly Pups donates annually to the ASPCA, PeTA, The Humane Society of the United States, The Best Friends Animal Society, The American Humane Association, The World Wildlife Fund, The Wild Bird Fund and other animal charities.
